Current Official Linguas Events
Linguas currently runs weekly Melbourne language exchange and social nights on Tuesdays at Father’s Office QV and Thursdays at Asian Beer Café, Melbourne Central. Linguas no longer runs events at Diesel Bar. Please use our official links page, Instagram, Eventbrite, Meetup, WhatsApp, or Hilltops for current updates.
Event Rules
- Buy a drink or food from the bar, or pay entry at reception, before receiving your country flag badge.
- Your flag badge must be worn during the event and returned before leaving.
- Harassment, intimidation, bullying, aggressive behaviour, or unwanted attention will not be tolerated.
- Respect personal space, consent, and conversational boundaries at all times.
- Follow organiser, host, venue staff, and security instructions respectfully.
- The bar manager, venue staff, or event organiser may remove anyone from the event if necessary.
- Do not leave bags, jackets, or personal belongings in the reception area.
- Repeated warnings, serious misconduct, or unsafe behaviour may result in a ban from future Linguas events.
Event Guidelines
- This is a language exchange and social night — speak with new people, practise languages, and keep the atmosphere friendly.
- Welcome newcomers. Many people attend alone, so small gestures make a big difference.
- Give everyone a chance to speak. Avoid dominating conversations or turning the event into a private group.
- Alternate between languages where possible so everyone gets balanced practice.
- Be open to different cultures, accents, backgrounds, and language levels.
- Avoid unnecessarily sensitive, hostile, or controversial topics with people you have just met.
- Keep the venue tidy and respect the staff, furniture, and shared event space.
- Look after your personal items. Linguas and the venue are not responsible for lost belongings.
